Meg Ryan returns in a fat suit
Posted on 06 Nov 2006
Meg Ryan will be the latest star to get chubby on screen after signing on to don a fat suit for a new role. The WHEN HARRY MET SALLY star will team up with Antonio Banderas in romantic comedy HOMELAND SECURITY, in which she'll play a slimmed-down diva. Meg Ryan will start the film off as an "enormous" woman and she'll join the ranks of Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts who have donned fat suits. The actress says of her character, "She was enormous, and now she's foxy, and so she's free to just dig herself. She starts out at 250 pounds before she sheds all that extra weight." Meg Ryan reveals her new fat suit took three hours to apply, but the actress isn't complaining: "I like a character who is all about transformation and is all about 'yes' to life, when it used to be 'no' to life." The role gives Ryan the chance to work with another member of the Hanks family - Tom Hanks' son Colin will play her son in the film. Meg Ryan and Hanks enjoyed box office success in three hit romantic comedies, JOE VS THE VOLCANO, SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE and YOU'VE GOT MAIL.
These pros can catch a rising star

There is such a thing as star quality. The casting agents who launched the careers of Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, John Cusack, Matt Damon and many others say future stars share a certain something that can be seen early on. [...] "That's what happened when we met Meg Ryan," Hirshenson told us. "We were casting for Rob Reiner's 'A Sure Thing' and we loved her, just loved her. But she didn't get the part. But when we did 'When Harry Met Sally,' she came in and she was the girl. We auditioned very few others after that."
Homeland Security in Shreveport

Local McDonald’s eateries better stock up on Royales with Cheese, because Samuel L. Jackson is headed to Shreveport. The “Pulp Fiction” legend will star in “The Cleaner,” a Millennium Films feature that will begin a seven-week shoot in January. “Louisiana has done a terrific job with their tax incentives,” said Michael Flannigan, an executive producer with Millennium. “Shreveport seemed to make sense because of the other films that have been there, particularly ‘The Guardian.’” Millennium is currently making “Homeland Security,” a feature starring Antonio Banderas and Meg Ryan, in Shreveport. That project wraps Nov. 10.
Celebrities go gaga for LaLa Laptop Bag
Posted on 14 Oct 2006
Jennifer Garner and Meg Ryan are just two of the celebrities who have snapped up the ultimate accessory for multi-tasking ladies who need to combine fashion with functionality – the Lala Laptop Bag. The Lala Bag is about as far removed from the conventional, masculine styled laptop cases of yesteryear as you can get – in fact it’s a luxurious (and very feminine) tote, which is specifically designed to carry not only your laptop, but also your mobile phone, make-up case, sunglasses, and gym clothes – all in one gorgeously big bag. This is the perfect antidote to lugging a separate handbag, laptop case and sports bag, which can leave you feeling with that “carthorse” feeling by the end of the day! The really great thing about the LaLa is that its roomy enough to fit any size laptop, and more than stylish enough to use as a conventional tote for day to day life, whether working, travelling or shopping. The Lala Laptop Bag is available in Luscious Leather, Sophisticated Suede, or a combination of the two, with a range of styles and colours to choose from. The LaLa Laptop Bag is available at www.lalalaptop.com with prices ranging from $150.00.

Meg Ryan and Vogue Ready 'The Women'

The "devil" may wear Prada, but now the devil's employer is going to start producing movies. Sources tell me that V Entertainment, a business division under Vogue magazine, has signed on as a producer of the imminent remake of “The Women,” a long-planned project based on the wonderful 1939 movie of the same name. Indeed, the two-year-old announcements that “The Women” remake was coming were premature. But now it seems that "Murphy Brown" creator Diane English has a script, and she also has Meg Ryan signed on to play the central role of a woman whose husband has left her for a shopgirl. Norma Shearer played the part in the original film. I am told that offers to fill the other parts have gone out to a number of actresses. Other stars in the 1939 cast were Rosalind Russell, Joan Crawford and Paulette Goddard.
